Perfectly located right in the center of Petrozavodsk, the capital of the Republic of Karelia, within a 5 minute walk from the railway station where most tourists arrive at.
The Jigowatt is a modern newly-renovated hostel with six-bed dorm rooms. It's located just a few meters away from the city's main walking avenue (Lenin Prospekt) that connects the rail way station and the Onego lake embankment from where a hydrofoil service carries tourists to the island of Kizhi, a World Heritage Site with an outdoor museum of ancient wooden architecture. The house itself is surrounded by loads of college pubs and cafes filled with beautiful students ready to make new friends.
The Hostel is safe with a friendly and helpful 24/7 English-speaking concierge.
The Jigowatt Hostel is built, owned and managed by an English-speaking team possessing many years experience in the travel and hospitality business.
What the heck is a Jigowatt?-many guests are asking us.
In our favorite movie "Back to the future", the power required to make time travel possible is pronounced "one point twenty-one jigowatts". Although this pronunciation of "gigawatt" was once considered the correct one, it is no longer the most common. In addition, since the film's script writers Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale were unfamiliar with the term, they misspelled it in the script.
We want your stay in Petrozavodsk to be as exciting and breathtaking as the adventures of Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett L. Brown, and that's why we chose the name Jigowatt for our hostel.
